FOR MAY 2003-32LBS COD
This
month Keith OBrien had his first Cod
of 32lb ever!
Keith OBriens crew of 6 lads
from London who are fly fisherman thought
they would try their hand on a days boat
fishing. Keith managed a cracking
Cod of 32lb on the first drop over a
wreck, and his mates had a 20lb Cod, 14lb
Cod and 6lb Cod all on the same drift, all
caught on pirks. That hour we had 18
Cod and then it went quiet with a few
Pollack. We decided to anchor up and
managed to hook two Congers but lost
them!
I am looking forward to taking them Conger
fishing!!!
This month weve had 5 Cods to 20lb
and 1 to 32lb, which is good going, but
there is not a lot of Cod around.
What Cod are there, are big!
Still some double figure Pollack around on
certain wrecks.
On one trip we had just had a 20lb Cod up
and on the next drift had a cracking fish
on. We thought it was a big Cod as
you would but it was a Conger around 35lb,
on a pirk, which is unusual.
We also had a Bass that day 30 miles off
which was a bonus.
We had around 12 Congers that day to 50lb
(which were all returned), but the eels
are really finicky, and are not on full
flow yet.
Mackerel are just starting to show now
with a few inshore.
Lets hope the weather is better this
year.
