MORE BIG EELS IN AUGUST 2005 - NICK COSTER 85LB
Nick Coster caught his personal best Conger of 85lb and the Ocean Warrior's biggest eel this year. He broke the Really Wrecked SAC club record, which was held by Stu Arnold at 72lb.
Also on the trip, Ben Eveling also had a Conger in the 70's, but after netting the eel in the boat, the Conger decided to have a turn and jumped out of the net, it then shot across the deck at 100 mile an hour and flew straight out of the scupper. I hadn't seen anything like it, as it was gone and could have been leading their new club record. They also had a few Cod around the 15lb.
Ben then decided to put a Shark rod over the side while at anchor with 2 live Mackerel on a huge shark hook at approximately 40 foot under the water line. Within 30 to 40 minutes it took off with a great scream from the reel, we waited for the 2nd run but it didn't happen, but I must say it opened all of our eyes when it ran.
Total amount of eels caught that day were 16 eels which were all returned to sea alive.

Don Matthews nearly had his personal best eel, this Conger weighed 72lb, 2lb short of his best so far, but still with me.
Even though, it was still a good eel and a Silver Medal for Don.
It was quite a battle as the tide was running hard.
Total catch was 34 eels that day and all were released.

On her first time Conger fishing, Anita Miller did very well and caught a few eels, but her biggest was 70lb. But, unfortunately she didn't manage to beat her husband Keith Miller as he caught a 90lb eel with me last year.
Well done, I hope that she enjoyed her day.
We are also starting to get some nice Bream to 4lb now, but you have to percevere through the Pout!!!

And here he is again, Ryan Matthews with his 65lb Conger, but he did also catch a 55lb eel on the day.
He is still going strong, as he has now had 5 big eels with me so far this month!!!
What can you say apart from - he is certainly giving his Dad and his Grandad a run for their money!!!!
Well done, Ryan you seem to have the golden touch and have been listening to both Dad and Grandad over the years!! What's next???

Here Dave Scannell from Newhaven with a 4lb Black Bream, which was the biggest on the day.
They also had Cod and Pollack and some nice Congers to about 50lb with 3 juniors aboard catching some eel's, Bream and Pollack. They were very well behaved and superb anglers.
